Welcome Jags!!!
I am so excited for the 2023-2024 school year as we celebrate 29 years of excellence at Cabrillo High School. There are many staff members and families currently at our school who have been here since the beginning in 1995; I am honored to be a part of the legacy of our wonderful school and to continue our motto of Success in the West!
As a product of LBUSD, I am grateful to be able to serve a district that has laid the foundation for my growth as a student and educator. Born and raised in West Long Beach to two Vietnamese refugees, I attended Garfield Elementary School, and I am proud to be the first Asian Female LBUSD High School Principal. I come to this position with a heart to serve West Long Beach--the community that has shaped my life experiences.
I believe a student’s education cannot occur in isolation; it requires partnership between the student’s home, school, and community. I believe that every moment is an opportunity to build a sense of belonging and connection. In every moment, we all have the ability to leave people and our community better than how we found them.
Whether you are a family returning to Cabrillo this year or you are new to the West Long Beach community, I am excited to have you as a Jaguar and to come alongside you to cultivate joy for our community! Let’s go, Jags!
Much Jaguar love,
Principal Nguyen
